Poem

Remember sitting outside
Waiting for that first bus ride
Excited and scared
Wouldn't do anything my brother and his friends dared

Remembering all the different places
Each year seeing the familiar and new faces
The many unforgettable good and bad days
Just the start of life's very long maze

Riding through, enjoying every left and right
Not knowing how big the fight
Lucky enough get the advice from family
Still not sure what I am going to be

Years pass by and you cannot help but learn
Finally getting something you rightfully earn
Moving away and far from your comfort zone
Meeting all the new people that make you feel right at home

I sat down and wrote this poem to show my students that there are many different things that are going to happen in life. It's definitely a wild ride with all the ups and downs, but I want my students to know that there's a lot out there to experience. I want to be able to show them that people are always learning. I will be using this about mid week and can't wait to hear what they think of it.

Grade Level Change

I recently was informed that my elementary school will be losing a section of our 4th grade team. Unfortunately, the teacher that is being affected is me. This is my third year teaching 4th grade, 2nd in the current school district I work in. Options for a grade level next year are 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade. The 3rd grade position would be in my building, the other positions are in different elementary school. Next year will be my tenure year and these decisions are all very important to my future. If I go to 3rd grade, same administration, same coworkers, but a whole new grade level to learn and teach. If I go to another school, I will have new administration, new coworkers, and a new grade level to learn. There are many pros to teaching both older students and younger students. I am fortunate to have a position at my school, and looking forward to how things will play out over time.
